Streszczenie
Toners are one of the materials used to create printed and copied text. In the present research, four toners (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) applied in 8 models of devices were studied. The aim of this study was to check whether and how the application of 3 different spectrometric methods (Raman, infrared and visible range) increases the scope for discrimination between toners originating from various devices. The main components of the toner binder were identified (IR spectrometry) in all the analysed samples, whereas identification of the main pigments (Raman spectrometry) was successful for all Cyan and Black toners. It was ascertained that IR spectra have the highest discrimination power; however, application of all three methods to toner examination contributed to increasing the number of distinguished pairs. The proposed methodology can be directly applied in document examination performed for criminalistic purposes.
