Streszczenie
The article presents a discussion on how developments in car design and technology have led to a reduction in the amount of traces left after road accidents. This directly hinders the possibility of event reconstruction and necessitates searching for new types of traces or making use of traces that have so far been considered of minor importance. This state of affairs requires more profound errors analyses, an extended assessment of the uncertainty of calculations and modelling, and an in-depth discussion of the reliability of conclusions. The use of car black boxes for the purpose of increasing the amount of available data essential for reconstruction still seems to be a long way off in Europe.
