COGNITIVE AND MEMORY MALINGERING IN THE CONTEXT OF COURT TESTIMONY

Streszczenie
The prime goal of the article is to introduce the problem of cognitive and memory malingering in the context of civil and criminal cases. After presenting definitions of malingering and factitious disorders the principal characteristics of the issues mentioned are sketched. The article then reviews the literature, research and data concerning the prevalence of malingering in court cases and the criteria for a diagnosis of malingered neurocognitive dysfunction before proceeding, in the second part, to examine the contexts in which feigned disorders appear, the indicators of malingering and the methods and strategies for detecting it.
