Streszczenie
Chromosome X STR markers constitute a valuable addition to autosomal, ChrY and mtDNA markers, which are routinely used in forensic identification studies. Due to a specific inheritance mode of chromosome X, analysis of ChrX markers may be particularly useful in deficiency paternity and some kinship cases. This paper presents population data for STR systems included in the Mentype Argus X-8 kit obtained for a population sample from southern Poland. The calculated values of PIC, MEC and PD indicate that the analysed set of Chr-X STRs is suitable for forensic analyses in the studied population. Performed analyses confirmed that the sensitivity and efficiency of the Argus X-8 kit is sufficient to analyse typical forensic specimens. Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that Mentype Argus X-8 represents a set of additional markers which can be useful for forensic investigations in particular cases.
