APPLICATION OF PYROLYSIS-GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY TO CAR PAINT ANALYSIS FOR FORENSIC PURPOSES

Streszczenie
The application of pyrolysis-gas chromatography (Py-GC) to car paint analysis for forensic purposes has been reviewed in this paper. The principles of the method and their application to paint analysis are described. On the basis of the literature, the structure of the applied apparatuses is also presented. Moreover, various techniques and procedures that can be carried out using Py-GC analysis are described as well. Results obtained by application of this method in various forensic laboratories over the last few decades attest to the fact that the equipment and methodology are constantly being developed – it is becoming an analytical tool with very great identification and discrimination potential.
