Streszczenie
The presence of large peaks of 2-butanone – higher than the peak of the internal standard – was ascertained by gas chromatography during toxicological analysis of blood samples collected during post-mortem examination of the body of a person who had most probably died as a result of metabolic disturbances caused by overuse of alcohol. The determined ketone, however, was of endogenous origin, since it was shown to have been formed in the headspace injector during incubation of the vial of blood with addition of 2-butanol as an internal standard.
