DRUGS AND ALCOHOL AS AGENTS USED FOR FACILITATION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

The number of reports of drug facilitated rapes is increasing. To date, analyses of xenobiotics in body fluids taken from rape victims have seldom been carried out. So, toxicological investigation of biological material taken from rape victims is a relatively new matter. Such analysis is useful in demonstrating the drug-facilitation of sexual assault. The victim, having problems with recollection of the course of events caused by taking of the drug, makes a very poor witness for the administration of justice. Demonstration of the presence of drugs used to facilitate rape in body fluids ensures unequivocal evidence of a committed crime. The aim of the present study is to present the characteristics of drugs that are most often used to facilitate sexual assault, and also Polish and international statistical data.
