Streszczenie
The general anaesthetic ketamine (Ketalar, Ketaject, Vetalar) is used in human and veterinary medicine for induction of anaesthesia for short surgical procedures and routine veterinary procedures. It has also been identified as a so-called “date-rape” drug used for “drugging” unsuspecting victims and then raping them while still under its influence. Its illicit use by teenagers at rave parties has also been reported. Ketamine was identified in a powder and inside a glass pipe submitted to the Institute of Forensic Research in Cracow during the last months of 2003. Since that time ketamine has not been used commonly by Polish drug addicts, but the above mentioned cases show that this substance is present on the Polish drug market.
