PEMOLINE TABLETS FROM THE POLISH DRUG MARKET

Streszczenie
Clandestinely manufactured tablets containing pemoline are available on the Polish drug market. Pemoline and caffeine are major components, but acetylsalicylic acid and piracetam are also present as minor constituents. One thousand and seventy six illicit tablets with pemoline confiscated by the police in three different forensic cases were submitted to the Institute of Forensic Research in Cracow for analysis. The composition of the tablets was identified using gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry and the main components were quantified by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry. It was observed that solvents used for dissolving tablets influenced the determined quantity of pemoline.
