IDENTIFICATION OF A POSTAGE STAMP ON THE BASIS OF A PHOTOGRAPH – A CASE STUDY

Streszczenie
The article presents a case in which experts’ task was to confirm or refute that the specific postage stamp was reproduced on the negative photographic film and on the photograph submitted for examination. The analysis covered the following group characteristics of the evidence materials: text content, including denomination, details of image, font distortions in the additional overprint, the number of perforations on the edges. Furthermore, the following individual properties were examined: the location of the overprint in relation to the background as well as the shape and size of rippled edges. The remains of the owner’s signature were also found on the reverse of the postage stamp, which were compared to the signature depicted on the photograph.
