Streszczenie
We describe a GC-MS method for the detection of endogenous steroidal hormones in human scalp hair. In 20 samples from males (aged 17-70 years) and 20 from females (aged 16-40) respective hormone levels (pg/mg) were: testosterone, male median = 4, range = 0-26, negative in 3; female median = 6, range = 0-11, negative in 7; oestradiol, male median = 0, range = 0-24, negative in l4; female median = 10, range = 0-90, negative in 7; progesterone, male median = 7, range = 0-32, negative in 4; female median = 27, range = 0-84, negative in 2; epitestosterone, male median = 0, range = 0-11, negative in 11; female median = 5, range = 0-12, negative in 4. The methodology offers the prospect of detecting the abuse of testosterone and other anabolic steroids through hair analysis.
