DETERMINATION OF SELENIUM IN HUMAN BLOOD USING ATOMIC FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRY

Streszczenie
In the present publication, a method developed for the determination of selenium in human blood is described. A blood sample was completely digested by nitric acid with use of a microwave oven. The analytical signal for selenium was measured by means of atomic fluorescence spectroscopy with the hydride generation system (AFS-HG). The method appeared to be typified by a detection limit of ca. 0.1 μg l-1 and precision of ca. 1.0% (RSD). The accuracy of the analytical results was evaluated at a level of ca. 2% (RE). It was verified with the use of reference materials of whole human blood and human serum. The procedure is very simple, fast and reliable, hence it is suggested to be applied to routine clinical and toxicological analyses.
