Streszczenie
The aim of the article is to present the results of research performed at the Institute of Forensic Research in Kraków on pedestrian motion speed and acceleration. Tests were performed in a specially prepared test area and encompassed the determination of the average speed of steady pedestrian motion depending on age, sex and manner of moving, and pedestrian acceleration from a stationary position to a slow, ordinary and fast walk as well as running and sprinting. In the final part of the article, conclusions and remarks addressed to court experts have been presented, in which particular attention is drawn to the moment when the occurrence of an emergency is apparent to the driver, which should be adopted in calculations when analysing the possibility of avoiding a collision.
