Streszczenie
The aim of this study was to examine the beliefs of law students about the psychological aspects of eyewitness testimonies. Beliefs of law students from Poland were compared with those held by Italian students receiving similar education. Participants from both groups answered 20 multiple-choice questions about factors affecting the accuracy of eyewitness testimonies. It was revealed that students from both groups shared stereotypical beliefs; however, the overall accuracy rate was slightly but significantly higher in case of Polish students. It was shown that those who attended courses covering psychology topics had a significantly better understanding of eyewitness factors. The article draws conclusions for the education system and legal practice.
