Streszczenie
The purpose of this study was to validate methods used for linking crimes on a Polish sample of commercial burglaries. Commercial burglaries committed in the capital city of Warsaw within one year were selected for this research. The results show that most of the offenders’ behaviours on the crime scene only allowed crimes to be connected to a certain extent, while using spatial consistency allowed better results to be obtained. These findings are similar to ones obtained by other authors, who showed that crime scene behaviours depend more on the circumstances of the crime scene rather than the offenders’ choices. The results point to a possible direction in crime analysis when searching for connected offences, and can also be a basis for the creation of computer-based systems.
