A BROKEN BOTTLE ("A TULIP") AS A CRIME TOOL

Jan JAROSZ
Institute of Forensic Research, Cracow

Streszczenie
Injuries caused by a broken bottle ("a tulip") are rather rare. A determination, on the basis of body inspection or autopsy, leading to the conclusion that the injury has been inflicted by a sharp, pointed, "knife-like" tool is sometimes misleading. Only after a detailed analysis of all the evidence collected is it possible to determine the crime tool used. This work presents three cases examined at the Institute of the Forensic Research, in which an initial suggestion that a knife had been the crime tool turned out to be false.
