EVALUATION OF CHARACTER AND COURSE OF MORPHODYNAMICS OF STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO CARDIOMYOCYTES IN CHRONIC, EXPERIMENTAL ETHYL ALCOHOL INTOXICATION

Streszczenie
Chronic intake of ethyl alcohol results in damage, mainly to the liver, kidney, and central nervous system and changes in cardiac muscle which lead to the development of cardiomyopathy. The aim of the study was to trace changes by light and electron microscope in chronic experimental ethanol intoxication in rats subjected to 1 M solution of ethyl alcohol intake for 4, 8 and 12 weeks. In a study using light microscopy, an increase in acidophility of fibre in cardiac muscles, fuchsin absorptivity, and small blurring of striated muscle fibre and the occurrence of small necrosis areas were observed. Electron microscope examinations revealed, in individual cases, besides swelling of mitochondria with focus cristolysis, irregularity of stripes in sarcomers. The cell nucleus was mainly oval with a clearly maintained nucleus membrane with more condensed heterochromatin on the edges and a clearly formed nucleolus. System T canals were slightly widened.
