Streszczenie
Drug addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disorder. Current treatment of this disorder is still far from satisfactory. Therefore a main goal of research is to try to identify neuronal and molecular mechanisms underlying addiction, which could lead to new treatments. The aim of this study was to assess abstinence among 100 patients of the Psychoactive Substance Dependence Treatment Centre in Szczecin. All of the participants met the ICD-10 criteria for drug addiction. They were tested for the presence of drugs – THC, amphetamine, LSD, opiates – in urine samples. All samples underwent quantitative and qualitative analysis conducted by means of the immunoenzymatic method (Viva Behrig-Siva). The test was positive for 34% of patients. The obtained results showed that the system of monitoring of drug addicted patients is insufficient and needs changes.
